April 12 of 12, 2008

If you're interested in the 12 of 12, the monthly photo blog devised by Chad Darnell, check out his website.

I was sorry that I missed out on a perfect score for the year by missing out on the March 12 of 12, but I was so sick plus dizzy with vertigo that the thought of taking photos - a spacial task - made me want to puke. Oh, well. At least I'm better now.

Spring has taken its sweet time getting here. Not that we had a horrible winter by a long shot, but it's been cold and wet so far for March and April. The 12th, though, was gorgeous - in the high 60's and mostly sunny. Yippee!! So here we go....

* * * * *

I bought a Gerber daisy back in the beginning of February and miraculously, it's still alive, even though it's been through a couple of close calls. The color makes me happy.

Breakfast! It looks kind of gross, but did taste good. Gluten-free waffles with turkey sausage. Yes, turkey. I've been eating a little chicken and turkey. This gluten-free thing is hard to get used to, but these waffles are pretty damn good.

Quoiffed and ready to go on a walk on a most beautious day. Turned out my lightweight sweater was too much and I was sweating after a while.

I zipped into the Park and the first bulb flowers are out. This photo hammers home the need for me to get a new camera. My camera is horrible. Not only can I not focus in on specific things, as you saw with the Gerber daisy photo, but the quality of the photos remind me of the kind you used to get on those horrible 110 cameras (or god forbid, DISC cameras) back in the 80's.

Just a little green poking out here and there. The stream is high with all the rain we've been having. It's usually just a trickle.

The dogwoods, though are flowering and this little one has a few blossoms. Some were really full of flowers. I love dogwoods. When I was growing up in Pennsylvania, we had a forest behind our house that was full of dogwoods - pink and white. So pretty!

The bluebells are flowering, too, and some little yellow flower in the foreground.

The stream flows into this little waterfall. My walk took me past this before the picture of the stream - I do a loop - so I walked up and around it. I love the sound of waterfalls - so soothing.

Walking up Eighth Avenue to run some errands. I liked this blue fire escape and the flowering tree under the blue sky.

Spent a couple hours on the phone with my friend, Lisa, catching up. We've both been pretty busy and haven't been able to have our weekly lunch, so we had to chat it up.

Watching a bit of The Lord of the Rings - Return of the King on TNT. I didn't watch much of it because I have the extended versions on dvd and between cuts and commercials, it's like the poor man's version.

Washing up.

That's it. Nothing too exciting.

I enjoyed your 12 of 12 - looks like a beautiful day in the city. I can't wait until my day trip to NYC in May!!!

Oh, and I'm thinking you looked well "coiffed" but not at all "quaffed" in your picture. LOL!!!! Either that or I would say you hold your liquor very well indeed! ;-)

Pleased to hear you are better. Lovely pics of your day, I like that fire escape too - well to look at, not run down or up ;0).

Thanks for correcting my spelling, Elastic! Though I do think being "quaffed" would have been a lot more fun, alas, it would be a lie....

You mentioned being in the park too in your comment to me, but assumed I was in the south. I was mere yards from where some of your shots were taken. The geocache I mentioned visiting is within line of sight of the shot you took of the little wooden bridge! The shot I had of the willow was at the lake on the west end of that stream. We probably passed each other. (I was there @5)

Love the nature shots!!!

I have only been to NYC once..and that was for 6 hours. Went to work with a friend to GMA/Times Square then to ABC Building. Quick walk around Central Park and then back on the train to NJ...so sad. LOL

Can't wait to read future posts.

Yay for spring coming to NYC! It's been lovely here this week until today when it went grey and cold and rainy, so I can understand you enjoying the sun!

(I'm late commenting as I was only back home late on the 14th and so my 12 was delayed too - this week's just been busy!)
